Jóhann Jóhannsson is releasing his new album, Fordlandia, on November 4, 2008.
The scores he has written for this masterpiece of an album are brilliantly beautiful and warm the heart and soul of the listener. One can tell when a symphony is going to be aesthetically pleasing when, after listening, you feel as though it has taken you to someplace you have never been before. The composer, who hails from Iceland, does just that in his new album.
Jóhannsson takes you to the place in his head when the music that he wrote came from, and I must say, it is a beautiful place to be. Jóhannsson inserts a rather eerie feeling into each and every score to where one might find it in such films as Silent Hill or Edward Scissorhands. It is quite clear that Fordlandia is a success in capturing the imaginations of every listener who comes across it.
