Up and comers Girl in a Coma opened for Tegan and Sara at Terminal 5 recently. The band was met with a small crowd, as New Yorkers show up at the last minute for everything, but this did little to affect their intensity. Lead singer Nina Diaz is a natural attention-grabber and hot like burning. The music makes for a good time, too.
The band is signed to Joan Jett‘s label, Blackheart Records, which carries a handful of raucous, [mostly] girl-driven punk bands. If it were mine to say, I’d say keep your eyes open for these ladies in the future.
