I was studying abroad in south america a while back and I bought tickets to a concert. The date of the show was 07/06/09. So on July 6th I commuted around two hours to get to the venue. I got there, got in the line. I found it strange how different the people in line looked from what I expected them to look like. They were all around 25-29 and old-school punkers. After waiting in line around an hour we started entering. I got to the front and handed the ticket in. The bouncer got confused, started laughing then told me that the show was a month ago. I had forgotten that everywhere but the United States has the date day/month/year.

It was a cool evening and I was ready to head to Motorcycle Weekend, but without biker attire or a coveted motorcycle. Could I fit in still? A manly shirt would have to do, and my deer in the moonlight tee was eager to be let loose. Later on scene, as I walked about parting the sea of scruffy men and their clingy mistresses, there were stares. Men who had probably seen the front lines of battle froze in respect and admiration. Intoxicated women ogled. I was wrong – I did more than just fit in; I was the man.
