I had never even heard of Funeral Party until I found out that they were opening for Panic at the Disco. I looked them up on YouTube and ended up buying the album. My favorite song is definitely Postcards of Persuasion. I have a thirty minute commute and after a twelve hour night shift this song is even better. I blast it through my speakers and sing along, it’s uptempo and really catchy and not only that, the lyrics are amazing. “In the end there’s only one to blame / And my heart it will never be saved / I can live without you / and I do… I do” Really hope I get to see them live, I’m sure their live show will be amazing!

My favorite song is “NYC Moves To The Sound Of LA”. This song is a real dance floor filler. It also very sarcastic and funny. My favorite part of the song is Now i know/That it’s all been done before/And it will all be done again’/So pick up the trends/You dumb americans

My favorite Funeral Party concoction is “New York City Moves to the Sound of L.A.”  This epic song goes above and beyond talent and musical inclination.  The opening beat takes me to a reverie of myself wearing revo wayfarer sunglasses and a untucked flat-black dress shirt with white tie.  I don’t know why, it just does.  The passion and screaming heard in this song gets my blood pumping; it truly motivates and inspires me.  The catchy verses, attention-grabbing vocals, predominant bass lines and insane snare rolls makes this song their best (and my favorite.)

Also, do I sense a future feud between Funeral Party (from L.A.) and The Strokes (from N.Y.C.)?  Hmm…  Nah, they’ll probably tour together instead.

Have to say i’m a new fan to funeral party but so far I’m digging their sound.  I think my current fav is “city in silhouettes.”  The lyrics seem to really fit with where I am now: my mid twenties, facing unemployment in a few months, adrift yet oddly grounded.  It’s a good reminder to remember this is the moment – i get too bogged down in what’s next nowadays rather than appreciating the now of this beautiful summer.  totes going on my summer 2011 playlist.

I like Youth & Poverty because of how real it is. The song is full of passion and it really impacts me, expecially because of where I am in my life right now.
