Sharon Van Etten has a mastery for writing songs with direct honesty and feeling. Over the course of releasing two full-length albums – Because I Was In Love (Language of Stone; 2009) and Epic (Ba Da Bing; 2010), Van Etten has affected a multitude of minds over the past couple of years. Now she will continue her outstanding trajectory as an artist newly signed to Jagjaguwar. With a roster including Bon Iver, Okkervil River, Black Mountain, Dinosaur Jr, and more, it’s a fitting home for Ms. Van Etten. Jagjaguwar will be releasing her third full-length in early 2012.
Van Etten has been incredibly busy in the last year – from opening the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival to singing with The Antlers at Radio City Music Hall and on the new Beirut album. She’s recording with The National’s Aaron Dessner, who is producing her third full-length. Van Etten has done her own headlining tour and shared the stage with Junip in the U.S., The National overseas, and played select shows with Iron & Wine as well as collaborating with Justin Vernon and Megafaun for the Songs of the South project. Having played Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and MusicNow, she is also scheduled to perform at Bumbershoot, Musicfest NW and a special show at the Hollywood Bowl with The National and Neko Case later this year.
