Bartholomew Cubbins directed the mysterious, action-packed short film that is filled with secrets and evil villains, and, of course, awesome music. You can watch the video below.
An alternate version of “Hurricane” can be found on the deluxe edition of This Is War. “Hurricane 2.0″ features Kanye West and the deluxe edition can be ordered on iTunes now.
I’m sure you remember Lykke Li‘s “I’m Good I’m Gone” from 2008. The indie singer/songwriter from Sweden has released a video for a new song, “Get Some,” and it’s already raised a couple eyebrows. For one thing, goodbye baggy clothes, hello leg-baring outfit. And two, when this song is played on BBC Radio, the word “prostitute” is censored. Hmmm.
Her second album, Wounded Rhymes, will be released in the U.S. on March 01 on the singer’s own LL Recordings label.
April Smith and the Great Picture Showhave a new promo video for their song “Terrible Things.” It’s grotesque, it’s gruesome, and just in time for Halloween. Watch it below.
The band will no doubt play this along with other tunes from their debut album Songs for a Sinking Ship when they go on tour in America next month.
I’ll be honest. I was pretty skeptical when Mt. Desolation was announced as a Keane side project this year, because I love Keane so much. Cast all those reservations aside when you watch this video directed by Joe Kane for “State of Our Affairs” featuring Jesse Quin on lead vocals (and of course Tim Rice-Oxley tickling the ivories). Wow.
Mt. Desolation is touring with their mates Mumford and Sonsand playing several headlining shows of their own this month. Their self-titled debut will be released on October 19 on Cherry Tree Records.

Frankie and the Heartstrings are a indie rock band from Sunderland, the same Northeast England town that also gave us the great Futureheadsand Field Music. Despite being a relatively new band, they won many hearts on this summer’s European music festival circuit and already have a pretty devoted fanbase back home. Frankly (no pun intended), I can understand the attraction. This is not music with lots of electronic bells and whistles. They play feelgood guitar pop, taking a back to basics approach to craft their sound and creating utter perfection. Below is the video for “Ungrateful,” the band’s forthcoming single to be released next Monday (October 4th) in the UK on their own record label, Pop Sex Ltd.
If you live in New York City, you can catch them when they appear at CMJ later this month (date and time TBA).
Keep an eye on Villagers from Dublin, Ireland. Singer/songwriter Conor J. O’Brien‘s band impressed critics so much, their debut album Becoming a Jackal was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize for 2010. Sadly, they lost out to the xx‘s xx when the winner was announced last week. But no matter. Here’s the promo video for their gorgeous tune “That Day.” It’ll quickly become one of your favorites.
The extremely talented O’Brien will play several solo shows later this month, and Villagers (as a full band) are set to play several dates in North America as support for Ra Ra Riot in October as well as headlining shows of their own in November.
Check out Holy Ghost!‘s new video for “I Know, I Hear”, one of the four tracks from their Static on the Wire EP released earlier this year. It features Caroline Polachek of Chairlift.
Everything Everythingis one of many bands out of the burgeoning and quite exciting Manchester music scene. We previously featured this song of theirs, “My Kz, Ur Bf”, and remixes done by their peers on PopWreckoning. They have recently released a new promo video for the song – watch it in all its surrealism below. The single will be released on August 23 in the UK, followed by the album Man Alive to drop on August 30. Expect big things from these Northerners.
The stoner heroes and chillwave artists Neon Indian have released a new stop-motionvideo for “6669 (I Don’t Know If You Know).”
The video is pretty cool with it’s almost “I Spy” -like image frames. Heck, I’m even impressed by the recycled spider that gets created, and I abhor spiders. Seriously. I almost lost a leg to a spider bite. Not a fan of the crawlers, but I guess it is kind of fitting this creepy, but sleek arachnid is in a song titled with a mash up of the Devil’s number and a symbol for sex.
