Laura Marling, Londonfolk songbird and former member of Noah and the Whale, has announced an extended tour of America in May. This will be her second set of dates on this side of the pond this year after a short tour in February. Marling is scheduled to perform at two of the more alternative summer music festivals in the UK, Hop Farm Festival in Kent and Latitude Festival in Suffolk, both in July.
I Speak Because I Can, Marling’s second album that sees her going back to a more traditional folk sound, was released in the UK on March 22. The album will be released in America on April 6.

Electropop / dance artist Little Boots (real name Victoria Hesketh) has announced her first headlining tour of North America for this Spring. Last year she won the BBC’s Sound of 2009 poll, pretty much ensuring that everyone in Britain would know her name.
Lest you surmise that her voice can’t stand alone without electronic backing, think again: at Suffolk, England’s Latitude Festival last July, she performed an unplugged version (just piano and voice) of “Remedy” for Radio2 presenter Stuart Maconie that totally stunned and blew me away. I wanted to kick myself for missing her late-night set at the Dot to Dot Festival in Nottingham on May 24, 2009 (thanks a lot, Mistress Jetlag). If electropop is your poison and dancing is your “Remedy”, I suggest checking out the promo video for the song below.
