With the backing of Arts and Crafts and lots of new experimental sounds, it is quite easy to compare Toronto’s Still Life Still to another Canadian act: Broken Social Scene.
The epic cymbal crashes were enough for me on “80′s on TV,” but Still Life Still give listeners such a very small taste on their three-song Pastel EP that it is difficult to say if they’ll have the power of the BSS collective until their full-length in the fall.
So if you don’t mind the surprise of a few random screams, howls, laughs, and even the occasional slinky noise, then the Pastel EP is full of lo-fi goodies that will tide you over until we can properly judge this band with a lengthier release.
